About Hamburger Hill
Hamburger Hill is located in Le Loc Village, Hong Bac Commune, A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province. The road leading to the hill is rough in some parts, but the top of the hill is fairly flat.
This made it suitable for military bases, warehouses, field airstrips, and artillery positions. Because of this, Hamburger Hill played a crucial strategic role, especially during the fierce battle that lasted 10 days and nights from May 10 to May 20, 1969.

Detailed Itinerary: Hue to Hamburger Hill
At your chosen time, our driver will pick you up at your hotel or homestay in Hue and begin the private transfer from Hue to Hamburger Hill by private car via National Highway 49. On the way to A Luoi District, you will pass through peaceful countryside and villages of the Co Tu (Ka Tu) and Ta Oi ethnic minorities, with beautiful mountain and forest views along the route.
After more than two hours of driving, you will arrive in A Luoi Town. Here, you will make a short stop at a local house displaying war relics related to the A Bia historical site. After that, you can enjoy lunch on your own and take a short rest.
In the afternoon, the driver will take you to the foot of the mountain. From there, you will trek up to Hamburger Hill, also known as the Mountain of the Crouching Beast. Standing at 937 meters above sea level, this is where the intense battle of 1969 took place. During the trek, you can see helicopter crash remains, NVA foxholes, the A Bia field hospital, the Hamburger Hill Memorial, and old American fortifications.
After descending the hill, you will return to A Luoi Town. On the way back from Ashau Valley to Hue, enjoy the scenic countryside with chances to take photos of water buffaloes, farmers working in rice fields, green acacia forests, and corn fields.
